Participant consent terms and conditions
By registering for this event, you acknowledge the following as a “participant”:
All participants of the CosMeetUp Chicago event must register via our event forms. This includes arrivals on the day of the event.
All participants of our events must be at least 18 years old at the time of registration, as CosMeetUp Chicago cannot serve as guardians or chaperones for minors at our events. CosMeetUp Chicago cannot accept registrations from minors in accordance with Illinois guidelines. As of December 15, 2025, we do not post new photographs of anyone under 18 on our website.
CosMeetUp Chicago cannot bar individuals from showing up in public locations. CosMeetUp Chicago cannot control the actions of the public in these locations (i.e., photographs taken by third parties).
To designate individuals registered for the CosMeetUp Chicago event, identifiers will be distributed during on-site check-in (ex. wristbands, badges, ink hand stamps).
CosMeetUp Chicago and other participants may use media (photographs and videos) taken during the event for personal and professional use, including advertising and portfolio purposes. Participants acknowledge that this is a free event and will not result in any form of compensation.
Any actions or behaviors of participants at events are taken at a participant’s own risk, including, but not limited to, climbing and jumping.
CosMeetUp Chicago reserves the right to refuse or revoke registration for any reason, including, but not limited to, making offensive or distasteful remarks to other participants, engaging in illegal activities at events, or breaching the above acknowledgment.
Props Policy
CosMeetUp Chicago events are commonly hosted in public spaces. Due to the nature of these environments, the following is our prop policy. Check back before each event for any updates.
Props that do not align with our policy will be asked to be removed from the event. Repeat offenses can lead to a permanent ban from CosMeetUp events.
The following items are banned from use as props:
GUNS of any kind. This includes but is not limited to: functioning or unpowered ammunition guns, airsoft guns, BB guns, and paintball guns.
IMITATION GUNS of any kind. This includes fake guns with orange tips and metal or wooden gun props.
Metal blades, even if dulled. This includes swords, axes, and knives.
Wooden or metal bats, paddles or clubs, including golf clubs.
Functional projectile weapons. This includes strung bows, slings, and catapults.
Sharp items. This includes tipped arrows, protruding nails, bolts, and javelins.
Sharpened claws made of metal, wood, or other sharp materials.
LASERS. This includes laser pointers of all kinds.
Heavy items that could be used as weapons. This includes iron pokers, heavy cast iron pans, crowbars, chainsaws, and metal hammers.
Chemical weapons, explosives, and incendiary devices. This includes mace and pepper spray.
Large pressurized containers and gas canisters.
Fog or vapor machines and smoke grenades. This includes smoke machines.
Martial arts training weapons. This includes metal nunchucks and wooden bokken.
The following items are illegal or heavily regulated in the state of Illinois and thus are not allowed at our events: stun guns, taser guns, metal knuckles (brass knuckles), throwing stars, ballistic knives, stilettos (long knives), daggers, dirks, broken glass or bottles.
All participants must follow federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding imitation weapons and props. There are no exceptions made for individuals with special training or weapons licenses.
